Consultancy firm Accenture has opened one of its Liquid Studios in Woodmead, Johannesburg, which will give clients access to disruptive technologies and help them rapidly prototype and deliver software to reach new markets.

The company says the studio is the first of several local innovation initiatives in which it plans to invest.

"Business cycle times are shrinking and competitive barriers are disappearing, making speed to market critical in the digital world. The Liquid Studio will help deliver innovative solutions to businesses with speed and agility," says Rory Moore, innovation lead for Accenture SA.

"The next wave of South African growth and competitiveness will come from continuous innovation, and I am proud that we are working closely with our clients to fuel innovation and solve critical business problems at speed and scale."

The Liquid Studio accelerates innovation by applying rapid development approaches, including Agile methodologies and DevOps. Using these methods, Accenture says development time can be shortened from months to days.

Disruptive technologies, such as mixed reality, artificial intelligence, blockchain and cloud architectures, will also be available for visitors to experiment with.

The Liquid Studio in Johannesburg will collaborate with other Accenture studios in Sydney, Singapore, Silicon Valley, Paris, Milan, London, Kronberg and other locations.

It will also work with Accenture Labs, where the firm incubates and prototypes new concepts through applied R&D projects.
