Oracle SA has appointed Niral Patel as its MD and technology leader.

In a statement, Oracle says Patel will be responsible for accelerating the adoption of Oracle cloud solutions, identifying new growth opportunities and enhancing engagement with key stakeholders in the country.

"Niral joins Oracle at a pivotal time, when we have introduced our latest cloud innovations in South Africa to support the various digital transformation initiatives undertaken by enterprise, SMBs and public sector entities looking to drive efficiency and achieve better ROI," says Cherian Varghese, VP and MD for Africa at Oracle.

"Niral brings with him a wealth of industry experience and is ideally placed to grow Oracle's business in South Africa. We are confident that under his leadership, Oracle will emerge as the preferred cloud vendor in the country," adds Varghese.

Patel, who joins Oracle from Hitachi Data Systems SA, has over 17 years of experience in leadership roles and was previously employed as public sector director at Microsoft SA.

"Oracle's unique ability to offer the complete stack of cloud solutions across IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and DbaaS is exactly what businesses are looking for to succeed in the digital economy," says Patel.

Meanwhile, Kholiwe Makhohliso has left Oracle SA and is no longer the country manager. Makhohliso was appointed as country manager in December 2015.

Oracle SA confirmed Makhohliso's exit but did not state the reasons for her departure, only saying she left in early June.

Makhohliso has told ITWeb that she is currently completing her studies at Harvard University and pursuing other interests.
