Fujitsu PRIMEQUEST server sets world record in SAP benchmark

Munich, 03 Aug 2017

The recently-launched Fujitsu Server PRIMEQUEST 3800B has demonstrated exceptional performance in demanding SAP software environments by setting a new sales and distribution (SD) two-tier benchmark world record, underpinning the strengths of the enterprise-class system as the backbone of SAP HANA deployments and other business-critical in-memory database applications.

In the SAP Sales and Distribution (SD) standard application benchmark, performed on the Windows Server operating system, the Fujitsu Server PRIMEQUEST 3800B set a new industry-wide low average dialogue response time of just 0.78 seconds, as well as managing throughput of some 11 242 000 fully processed order line items per hour, while running 101 000 SAP SD benchmark users. Certified by the SAP Benchmark Council, SAP Sales and Distribution (SD) Standard Application Benchmarks are widely used to provide an independent test for hardware and database performance of SAP applications and components, and are designed to help customers and partners find the best-performing hardware configurations among systems from rival vendors.

The achievement of a new SAP benchmark world record validates the powerful performance of the octo-socket PRIMEQUEST 3800B, which is designed to deliver outstanding workload-specific results and is capable of handling even the largest SAP HANA databases, scaling up to 12TB. The PRIMEQUEST 3800B is the business-critical backbone of the Fujitsu Integrated System PRIMEFLEX for SAP HANA infrastructure solution. It provides for fast and secure SAP HANA deployments, giving organisations a sustainable way to process high volumes of data in real time and allowing them to exploit the full potential of the SAP HANA platform.

The new Fujitsu Server PRIMEQUEST 3800B features the latest Intel Xeon processor scalable family with up to 28 cores per processor and the fastest available DDR4 memory modules. PRIMEQUEST is distinguished by optimised economics in a compact 5U chassis and includes advanced server reliability, availability and serviceability (RAS) features that prevent errors from occurring in advance, making it an excellent choice for running demanding corporate databases, in-memory solutions and business-critical digital applications such as real-time data analytics.

Benchmark details

Awarded a certification number from SAP of 2017016, the system configuration used to set the benchmark was comprised of a FUJITSU Server PRIMEQUEST 3800B with eight processors / 224 cores / 448 threads, Intel Xeon Platinum 8180 Processor, 2.50 GHz, 64 KB L1 cache and 1024 KB L2 cache per core, 38.5 MB L3 cache per processor, 3072 GB main memory, SAP enhancement package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0, Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard Edition, and SQL Server 2012.
