Network-agnostic connectivity services provider Turrito Networks has confirmed a partnership with global enterprise cloud backup provider, Redstor, to extend its cloud services portfolio to SMEs in SA.

Turrito is a MICROMega Group company, while Redstor is a global provider of cloud backup and disaster recovery software and services.

According to Louis Jardim, co-founder and commercial director of Turrito, the partnership will see the company offering Redstor cloud backup solutions, while Redstor will gain access to the various SME firms through Turrito channels.

"SMEs are still under the impression that ransomware and compromised access to company data is something that won't happen to them, that they are too small to be of interest and they often lack the technology tools and support to help them effectively store and manage their data.

"Our partnership with Redstor is built on a growing need for SMEs to have reliable, enterprise-grade cloud backup and data management capabilities, with pricing that matches their budgets," says Jardim.

"Because Redstor originates in SA, it has a fundamental understanding of the market and the limitations of connectivity in the region where its solution is able to operate in low bandwidth environments.

"Its cloud backup is billed on a pure per gig basis, allowing SMEs to pay for what they use, on a month-to-month basis and does not require the customer to have an existing backup solution in place."

The partnership will cover SMEs across all industry sectors, with particular focus on small corporates with between 10 and 250 employees.

"With Turrito focusing their attention on the SME market, we saw the opportunity to broaden their reach beyond enterprise, by joining forces with a knowledgeable provider of hosting, security and communication services," says Heidi Weyers, Redstor general manager of sales in SA.

Earlier this month, Syrex, provider of virtualised and hybrid network infrastructures and solutions, also implemented Redstor enterprise-level cloud backup and security solutions in the SA market.
