Andrew Matseke named new Broadband Infraco CEO.

Andrew Matseke has been appointed as Broadband Infraco CEO effective 1 September, according to a Cabinet statement.

Matseke's appointment, which is subject to verification of qualifications and the relevant clearance, comes on the back of news that Broadband Infraco was in search of a new CEO.

The state-owned broadband confirmed in February that Puleng Kwele's five-year employment contract as CEO was ending in May.

According to the statement, Matseke will assume office next month and is contracted until 30 August 2022.

Matseke was recently appointed as MD of Ansys subsidiary, Tedaka Network Solutions. He joined Tedaka from Transnet Freight Rail.

Cabinet also approved the appointment of Ian van Niekerk as the CFO of Broadband Infraco.

Meanwhile, Kwele, who was serving her notice period, will stay on at the state broadband entity until 30 November as her fixed-term contract was extended by another three months, the statement notes.

Kwele's five- year contract as CEO came to an end on 31 May. She was appointed company boss in 2012, taking over from then interim CEO Andrew Shaw.
