SANBS celebrates successful new enterprise structure implementation

The Britehouse Group, a Division of Dimension Data, partnered with the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) to successfully implement its new SAP HCM Enterprise Structure re-alignment.

Johannesburg, 21 Aug 2017

The South African National Blood Service, or as it is better known, the SANBS, has been running its human resources and payroll processes on the same enterprise structure for over 10 years. Due to the welcome but unexpected expansion and acquisitions it has experienced over the years, coupled with the outdated and inflexible enterprise structure, it became increasingly labour intensive to capture accurate, geographical employee reporting within the SANBS.

It became necessary to redesign, document, and re-implement a whole new enterprise structure, one with the capability to handle flexibility. Moreover, it needed to be flexible enough to handle any change that the company might still experience in the years to come.

The Britehouse Group, with its focus on SAP Human Capital Management, was the ideal partner to implement a possible solution to solve the issues that SANBS started experiencing. This was especially true in light of the group's expertise in personnel administration, organisational management, time management, payroll, ESS/MSS, authorisations, and various talent management modules.

Its dedicated team of consultants, together with the SANBS team made up of functional consultants and SANBS PMO, worked tirelessly to develop a new enterprise structure. This new structure would ensure the successfully accurate loading and reporting of employees' information geographically throughout South Africa, with no effect on the functioning of the payroll.

The final preparation commenced in September 2016 and during the go-live phase the necessary data was loaded with effect from 1 September 2016, where employees were loaded and reported against the new enterprise structure. Britehouse has since successfully implemented the enterprise structure and SANBS ran its first set of reports on the new structure during the September payroll run.

The Britehouse team was on standby support during this entire period, not one support issue was logged or attended to, and it was immediately clear that the business was able to report effectively and accurately, without any manipulation of reports outside of SAP.

Importantly, the implementation was marked by employees receiving their first payment on the new enterprise structure. Says Sybil Wilson, Manager: Compensation and Benefits, SANBS, "This is the most successfully managed and executed SAP project to date."

"We are truly honoured to have partnered with a company like the SANBS, and are especially proud of our team's efforts to deliver on time and well within budget," said Karen Booth - Britehouse Director Consulting Services, Services and Solutions for SAP.
