Rittal at the EMO Hanover 2017

Rittal with a new cooling solution for machine tools.

Herborn, 11 Sep 2017

Cooling systems for machine tools have to meet many different requirements: they must possess an exact temperature control system, cool efficiently and be ready for Industry 4.0 applications. Rittal meets all these demands with its new Blue e+ Chiller, a liquid-based cooling solution for machines and processing equipment. The supplier for enclosure technology is presenting these and other innovations at the EMO Hanover, the world's largest trade fair for metal processing, from 18 to 23 September.

Rittal is launching the new "Blue e+" series, a chiller generation that enables a huge leap in energy efficiency, in order to achieve temperature precision while also meeting the demands for high energy efficiency.

The use of a speed-controlled compressor is the basis for a significant reduction in energy consumption. Instead of operating the cooling compressor at full capacity and destroying a large part of the cooling power as with hot gas bypass control systems, the inverter-controlled DC refrigeration compressor can provide exactly the cooling output required. This minimises the hysteresis without having to waste cooling power unnecessarily.

Energy savings of up to 70%

Rittal uses DC synchronous motors to drive the compressors. An inverter in conjunction with DC radial fans and an electronic expansion valve enables the speed of these motors to be controlled with high precision, which means Blue e+ chillers always operate at the optimum speed. This innovative drive and control technology results in energy savings of up to 70% compared to chillers with hot gas bypass control systems.

A control panel with touch screen displays all messages in plain text. An app allows important information to be transferred wirelessly. RiDiag III parameterisation and diagnostic software can also be used with Blue e+ chillers. This software can communicate with the chillers via USB and, in the future, will be able to do so via various network protocols using communication modules.

The new chillers are available in three performance classes with cooling outputs of 2.5kW, 4kW and 6kW (adjustable between 20% and 100%). Certifications for all key markets such as cULus Listed, EAC, CCC and GS make international utilisation even easier.

Additional product highlights

Other highlights at the EMO Hanover include the new energy-efficient Blue e+ cooling units for the climate control of enclosures, as well as operating housing solutions and support arm systems for use in mechanical engineering. In addition, Rittal is presenting its new RiLine Compact power distribution system, a compact busbar system for machines, panels and switchgear with a maximum current of up to 125A, providing a maximum of contact hazard protection.
