Netskope receives 2017 Cloud Computing Security Excellence Award

Johannesburg, 26 Sep 2017

Netskope, the leader in cloud security, announced today that TMC, a global, integrated media company, has named the Netskope Active Platform as a 2017 Cloud Computing Security Excellence Award winner. The Cloud Computing Security Excellence Award, presented by Cloud Computing magazine, recognises companies in two distinct categories that have most effectively leveraged cloud computing in their efforts to bring new, differentiated offerings to market.

Cloud-delivered security

With the ever-increasing number of hacks and intrusions, ensuring the security of our applications, services, data, and devices has never been more critical. Exemplary security solutions leveraging the cloud as the delivery model have been recognised.

Cloud security

For years, one of the chief causes of delay or even rejection of cloud migration has been security. Select products and services keeping cloud infrastructure and applications secure have also been presented with Cloud Security Excellence Awards.

The Netskope Active Platform has been recognised in the cloud category.

"Netskope is committed to delivering the most comprehensive solution in the market to gain real-time visibility into and secure all cloud services, inclusive of preventing data loss and unwanted data exposure, preventing and remediating cloud threats, enabling granular dynamic access control and governing usage in real time from any user and from any device, all while ensuring employees have the freedom to safely use and enable the cloud services and the devices they choose," said Sanjay Beri, founder and CEO, Netskope. "This is our top priority as we continue to innovate to solve our customers' cloud security problems and this award is a testament to the hard work of the employees behind the Netskope Active Platform."

About the Netskope Active Platform

The exponential growth of cloud services has upended a security industry built around the legacy idea of the network perimeter. This is exacerbated by the evolving way that people work, with employees accessing information from on-premises and remote locations and often from a combination of desktops, laptops, and mobile devices, enabling transactions to seamlessly traverse the network, cloud, and Web across any endpoint. Many current security solutions fail to look deep enough into these transactions, resulting in an incomplete contextual understanding and multiple weaknesses in enterprise defences including:

* Data exfiltration by careless or malicious employees via unsanctioned cloud services;
* Access to regulated information housed in company sanctioned cloud services from personal devices;
* Access to data contained in cloud services from devices that allow users to go "direct-to-cloud";
* Propagation of malware and ransomware from threats that blend the use of cloud and Web; and
* Web sites that connect to cloud services to deliver content to visitors.

Designed to be content- and context-aware and action-oriented, the Netskope Active Platform addresses this emerging security challenge, giving security teams the visibility and control necessary to allow employees to work efficiently in a service-, device-, and location-agnostic manner.

"Recognising leaders in the advancement of cloud computing, TMC and Cloud Computing magazine are proud to announce the Netskope Active Platform as a recipient of the Cloud Computing Security Excellence Award," said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. "Netskope is being honoured for their achievement in bringing innovation and excellence to the market, while leveraging the latest technology trends."
