Roan Systems celebrates 20 years of success

Johannesburg, 17 Oct 2017

Specialist South African IT solutions provider Roan Systems is celebrating 20 years of successful operation as one of the country's leading suppliers of automated end-to-end printing, mobility, scanning and logistics solutions this month.

With a strong base of local customers, many of which have worked with the company since its inception, Roan Systems is building towards an even brighter future, announcing a range of new high-value products and services to commemorate the milestone.

"We've come a long way since a group of like-minded enthusiasts saw a gap in the market for specialist printing services, and started supplying, maintaining and repairing printing equipment out of a garage," says Roan Systems Chief Commercial Officer Frikkie Koegelenberg.

"But, despite our humble beginnings, we knew we were on to a good thing, and when multiple blue chip companies decided to back us, we managed to build the momentum we needed to take the company to where we knew it could go," he says.

"Twenty years later and we've divested our interests across a broad range of industries, supplying an even broader range of industry-standard equipment, combining distribution and sales within the group, and offering our clients a completely new way of meeting their complete equipment requirements for a fixed, predictable monthly cost through our Roan Simplify service."

In 2009, Roan Systems and its sister companies, Roan Safety Products and The Printer Distribution Company, became part of supply chain solutions company, TrenStar Group. As a merger of capabilities, the group could now offer its combined customers an end-to-end solution inclusive of engineering, support and flexible financing.

Today, the company sells and supports most brands of printers and is a partner or an authorised warranty and support company for Printronix, Impinj RFID, PSi, Zebra, Microplex, TallyGenicom, Printronix AutoID, inAni, SOTI, Lexmark, COT, Bartender, Nicelabel and Honeywell.

"Our vision from the start was to source the best products at the best prices for our customers, but not only that, to also maintain, finance and support these products as part of our customers' workflow, saving them money, time and hassle," says Koegelenberg.

"Printing, scanning, point of sale and RFID are critical functions to our customers, but not their core focus; they have their own customers and concerns, so it's our job to make sure their equipment meets the need, serves the purpose, and works without downtime from deployment to end-of-life.

"If we measure our success by the loyalty of our customers, you could say that retaining the vast majority of customers over two decades is something we can be very proud. We are very much looking forward to more of the same over the next 20 years and beyond," concludes Koegelenberg.
