Disaster recovery solutions producer Acronis has appointed Drive Control Corporation (DCC) as an official distributor in South Africa, immediate effectively.
According to the distribution company, it will be distributing Acronis product range to the local reseller channel. Acronis product range includes backup, disaster recovery and secure file sync as well as share solutions.
Fred Mitchell, software division manager at DCC, says the partnership falls in line with its focus on increasing its offerings of security software. "South African companies are faced with growing volumes of data coupled with increased dependency on digital business processes. This in turn increases the threat of disaster and cybercrime which is why data backup and protection are critical in today's modern IT environment. Acronis offers solutions that readily safeguards companies' information environments, we will now be able to offer such to our network of end users, value-added resellers and original equipment manufacturers."
Mitchell further explains that the partnership will mainly target small to medium enterprises, however does not rule out the participation of large enterprises that use the Acronis product sets. "Key to the distributor agreement is the Acronis Backup 12.5 Edition offering which was launched globally in June. The solution available now through our company as well as other Acronis partners," adds Mitchell.
According to DCC, the Acronis Backup 12.5 edition is described as a backup offering that allows businesses to start small with Acronis Backup 12.5 standard edition and scale to Acronis Backup 12.5 advanced as required by the business growing infrastructure, by changing licence keys.
"This gives partners the flexibility to meet the needs of small and large businesses with the same product. This in turn allows partners to improve customer service and increase customer retention rate," explained the firm in a statement.
DCC joins other local companies such as Rectron and Synapsys, which have been Acronis distributors in the African region since May 2017 and 2003 respectively.
Jan-Jaap Jager, chief revenue officer at Acronis, says although this is not the first company it has partnered with in Africa, the deal will enable it to broaden its market reach within the SA, "We are happy to announce our partnership with DCC as it will enable different kinds of companies to strengthen their data protection strategies in different environments."
Acronis, which was established in 2003, currently has an ecosystem that includes over 1 300 partners in 145 countries globally, including Ghana, Uganda and Mozambique.
