Huawei introduces its One-Stop Data Migration and NOS Services

Johannesburg, 20 Apr 2017

Huawei introduced its Smart Network Operation Service (NOS) and One-Stop Data Migration Service today at the Huawei Eco-Connect Conference at the Sandton Convention Centre. In an era where enterprises and governments are increasingly dependent on the availability and flexibility of their ICT infrastructure, traditional enterprise ICT systems face enormous challenges to ensure stability and efficiency.

In order to meet customer requirements for better data and service management, Huawei presented its one-stop migration service to ensure a safe and smooth digital transformation for enterprises. The Huawei migration service offers rapid data migration with zero downtime and zero data loss and leveraging proven methodologies and intelligent tools. It allows end-users to work on their devices during the migration, ensuring zero impact and business continuity.

As a follow-up to the migration service, Huawei also launched Smart NOS which features a full suite of reactive and proactive operations and maintenance (O&M) services to which customers can subscribe. Instead of looking at individual devices it considers the entire network architecture and leverages network experts, smart tools and best practices to provide comprehensive evaluation, support and management services. By proactively detecting and removing risks, Smart NOS helps businesses improve their overall network quality. It drastically and continuously enables improvements from the device level to network level, from passive response to proactive defence and from single/static to multiple/dynamic. All this aims to optimise network architectures, optimise service applications and service management as well as minimise cost.

According to Hank Stokbroekx, VP of Huawei Enterprise Services, Smart NOS is the first in the industry to offer such a combination of Reactive and Proactive services as a one-off or on a subscription basis. The combination of deep expertise, proven methodologies and smart tools ensures that its enterprise customers can quickly and ongoing improve their business continuity while reducing their operational expenses.

Huawei Smart NOS has already been successfully implemented in various regions such as Western Europe, China, Africa, Southeast Asia and Southern Pacific. A few examples include the Tencent Network and CPIC data centre in China, Sberbank in Russia, Saudi Post and the safe city project in Kenya.

In the instance of the safe city project of Kenya, there were numerous branch sites which required up to six staff for basic operations. Additionally, troubleshooting inefficiencies caused operational delays of up to 3.5 hours. Through the remote O&M centre, Huawei's Smart NOS solution provided full-day assurance to successfully optimise procedures. The results saw a reduction in the number of required staff from six to three, as well as a reduction troubleshooting time to a mere 0.6 hours.
