Samsung Electronics has announced its director of integrated mobility for Southern Africa, Craige Fleischer, will leave the company.

"Craige has been with Samsung for six years, during which time he has become synonymous with Samsung Mobile. His formidable sales skills were a significant asset to the business," says Sung Yoon, president of Samsung Electronics Southern Africa.

MTN has confirmed Fleischer will join its team as head of devices next year.

"He's got a huge amount of industry experience that spans 20 years; he is a confident, dynamic, astute industry leader and we are very pleased he is joining our team," says Jacqui O'Sullivan, MTN spokesperson.

"His career portfolio reflects his ability to increase commercial performance, to streamline processes, and inspire cross-functional teams to hit targets. It is a very complicated business, with so many moving parts, and he has shown himself capable."

Before Samsung, Fleischer was regional director for BlackBerry and previously worked at Vodacom as manager of global accounts.

Fleischer will start at MTN on 4 January, reporting to MTN SA COO Enzo Scarcella.

Samsung SA says its exec team will prioritise the management of a smooth transition as it prepares a succession plan.
