SA networking distributor Duxbury Networking has broadened its technology training operations in South Africa by introducing new training courses to its current portfolio.

According to senior training engineer and Duxbury Training Academy head Shaun Gordon, the move was inspired by the increasing number of international vendors who require up-to-date professional hands-on training and technical skills for their students. "We have significantly augmented the number and range of content-rich, instructor-led courses offered. During the early years of our training academy, we only offered product specific courses, such as Netgear training. Since then we have added our generic networking courses, after which Comptia and now we are offering Sophos certifications."

Established in 1984, Duxbury is a local distributor of hardware and technical services to the local channel for a number of vendors including Netgear, Green Packet and Rajant.

Gordon says the augmented courses are targeted at network administrators, pre-sales engineers, sales staff, business consultants and industry professionals. "Our latest course is the Sophos XG Engineer and obviously adding to Comptia. When we originally only had the generic courses, they were not internationally recognised, however with adding of Comptia and Sophos, we now offer courses that are on a certified global standard. Our courses feature up-to-date content and centre on the latest product offerings from the Duxbury portfolio, as well as emerging IT industry trends and developments. They are presented by certified, skilled trainers with IT academy accreditation."

The courses are offered at the Johannesburg-based facility.

"Our current plan is to focus on our Sophos offerings currently we only offer the XG Engineer but during the course of 2018, we would like to see some other titles such as Central Engineer and Endpoint Protection," noted Gordon.
