Commvault extends its reach with appointment of two new distributors

Johannesburg, 11 Dec 2017

Data protection and information management company, Commvault, has appointed two new South African distributors, Drive Control Corporation (DCC) and Pinnacle. This will enable Commvault to grow its business in South Africa and extend its reach to key national points while providing the distributors with access to a leading information management solution.

Gerhard Fourie, District Channel Manager for Commvault in South Africa says, "Each distributor will allow us to scale by tackling the different markets that each one focuses on. DCC has close relationships with their small medium enterprise (SME) reseller which is a key market for Commvault. DCC also has extensive reach into the enterprise market and strong relationships with key enterprise resellers.

Pinnacle, another well-established ICT distributor in Sub-Saharan Africa, is dominant in the enterprise market and focuses on delivering end-to-end and 'ready-to-ship' solutions. They are positioned to integrate Commvault solutions into their already extensive product portfolio and have established relationships with many Commvault alliance partners, such as Huawei, Fujitsu and Nutanix. These synergies enable Pinnacle to offer bundled solutions to the market, combining Commvault software with hardware products that are already proven to support it.

Gerhard adds: "The appointment of DCC will enable us to tap into the SME market and create a more predictable business model with the inclusion of this sector that has the same requirement as larger enterprises to protect and secure their data, as well as continue to service our enterprise reseller base with the same high- level service they currently receive from DCC."

Fred Mitchell, software division manager at DCC says: "After evaluating the backup market, DCC has taken the strategic decision to partner with Commvault to bring - what we consider - the best of breed to our resellers."

Pinnacle Enterprise Solutions (Pinnes) Chief Technology Officer Johan L"otter, "Pinnacle Enterprise Solutions (Pinnes) is presently investing heavily in product and service solutions like Commvault to be able to offer our clients individual ICT architecture, tailor-made to fit specific requirements of unique client and or project based circumstances. Because Commvault has a long-standing history of visionary innovation, superior technology and world-class support it is therefore a logical business decision for us to partner with them."

Each distributor had to meet stringent criteria including agreed sales targets and a dedicated team including pre-sales and technical resources. Commvault will provide extensive on-going training and annual certification courses to the distributors, enabling distributors to incorporate professional services into their service offering and bolster their own revenue streams.

Fourie concludes: "Both distributors are equipped with on-site demo centres as well as training facilities, delivering additional value to resellers and their end-user customer. They are also self-sufficient and have knowledgeable on-site pre-sales engineers in the regions to assist with solutions design and specification. We believe that these factors, alongside their established relationships with resellers and end-users alike, position both Pinnacle Africa and DCC as strategic enablers of Commvault's growth goals."
