Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) company, has appointed four territory managers to drive sales and business development across Africa.

Charlton Allen, Thanyani Mariba, Eugene De Souza and Arashad Samuels will work closely with Aruba customers to understand their business network needs and challenges, and how Aruba's products and services can help them run more efficient, secure digital businesses.

Their remit expands across the manufacturing, communications and media, retail, hospitality, automotive, healthcare, and transport industries, in English- and Portuguese-speaking African territories.

Charlton Allen

Allen has extensive sales and consulting experience in the IT industry and is experienced in networking security and the Internet of things (IOT). Prior to joining HPE Aruba, Allen was an account manager and enterprise technical sales representative at Dell.

He has a keen interest in the education and financial industries.

"Political, cultural, economic and technological factors are driving massive change in the higher education sector in South Africa. There is an urgent need to expand access to higher education to more South Africans, which can be achieved through increased use of ICTs and e-learning delivery models," says Allen.

"The financial sector is rapidly adopting digital business models and processes. Robust and secure networks will become even more crucial as banks increasingly roll out mobile banking and biometric authentications. I'm excited to work with our customers in these sectors and to partner with them on their technical and business requirements," he adds.

Allen has a computer science and information systems degree.

Thanyani Mariba

Before joining HPE Aruba as Territory Manager, Mariba worked in business development and senior management positions at Dimension Data, driving the go-to-market strategies for the Cisco Alliance and Network Solutions divisions in MEA. He also served in consulting and business analyst positions across different verticals at Systemiclogic.

At HPE Aruba, Mariba will oversee the sales and business development of 50 large corporate accounts.

He is passionate about engaging clients and helping them understand how technology can enable them to meet their business objectives.

"Many clients are confused by buzzwords like IOT, software-defined networking and hybrid IT. They don't yet fully understand the value and relevance of these technologies in their industries or what return on investment they can expect. Taken together with the flood of solutions in the market, clients are often confused and overwhelmed and, as a result, are taking longer to make purchasing decisions," says Mariba.

"Coming from a consulting and enterprise architecture background, I look forward to engaging with these clients to understand their business needs and challenges, and how our technology can play a role along with their people, processes, systems and information to unlock real business value," he adds.

Mariba has a BSc (Hons) Computer Science degree and a BSc IT degree, majoring in computer engineering.

Eugene De Souza

De Souza is passionate about helping businesses to unlock their growth potential and transforming businesses through entrepreneurial thinking through digitally geared networks.

He has served in numerous positions within HP and HPE, including Country Lead for HP's Infra2Apps portfolio, Regional Strategic Alliance Business Manager at HP, Service Provider Segment Country Lead at HPE, and Channel Partner Business Manager at HPE.

As Territory Manager at HPE Aruba, De Souza will drive sales, consulting, business development and marketing activities for clients in various industries.

"Workers are more mobile than ever before and they expect a seamless network experience everywhere they go. These days, businesses are almost expected to allow outsiders to access their networks - and that those networks are fast, smart and secure. I'm looking forward to helping my customers to modernise and monetise their networks so that they can support the digital workplace of the future and create digital mobile user engagement platforms for their clients," says De Souza.

"Wireless networks are no longer just wireless networks. Businesses need omni-channel digital strategies that enable them to better and more securely engage with their clients, while uncovering new revenue-generating opportunities and cost savings."

De Souza has a B.Tech in Marketing Management and a National Diploma in Marketing.

Arashad Samuels

As Territory Manager, Samuels works closely with commercial, public sector, education, manufacturing and SME customers across English and Portuguese Africa, to build holistic views of their networks and then deliver architecture that supports secure and efficient IT environments.

"We're witnessing a huge technology drive in these markets, with customers becoming more aware of the IOT and hybrid cloud. Among all the hype, customers need a trusted partner that commits to understanding their business' long- and short-term goals, and how technology can help to achieve these," says Samuels.

Arashad previously served as a Territory Account Manager at HPE within the Midmarket team. Prior to joining the company, he worked in various account management positions for Simplified Technology Solutions.

He has a certificate in PC engineering.

"The experience, passion and innovative thinking that Charlton, Thanyani, Eugene and Arashad bring to the HPE Aruba team will help our clients to transform their digital strategies for real results: faster, stronger networks, data collection and marketing optimisation, effective location-based and personalised services, and engagement that converts," says Pieter Engelbrecht, Business Unit Manager for HPE Aruba."

"By using HPE Aruba technology, our clients are able to better service their customers while taking advantage of digitisation and uncovering new revenue-generating opportunities - through robust, secure and intelligent edge networks. Our sales team has some great ideas about how to manifest this in our clients' businesses and I'm excited to see what they can do."
