Fujitsu SELECT Innovation Awards recognise D.FI's exceptional AI digital transformation project

Munich, 14 Nov 2018

News facts:

* Awards recognise the achievements of partners that have combined Fujitsu's extensive products, solutions and services portfolio to implement innovative and customer-centric projects.
* Winner is French SELECT Partner D.FI, for its innovative AI-based system that reduces errors and dramatically accelerates how support tickets are handled.
* Runners up are Sizwe Africa IT Group for its project to bring mobile classrooms to remote African communities, and Green IT - Das Systemhaus, for its wind turbine data centre.

Fujitsu SELECT Expert Partner D.FI was today named as winner of the prestigious 2018 SELECT Innovation Award. D.FI effectively leveraged Fujitsu's Artificial Intelligence (AI) Center of Excellence, AI ecosystem, and proof of concept testing capabilities to rapidly create an intelligent system that has not only streamlined the partner's own support system, but that can also be replicated and rolled out to its customer base.

Fujitsu channel partners play a crucial role in terms of helping companies effectively leverage emerging technologies to address their business challenges. The annual SELECT Innovation Awards recognise partners that are helping customers thrive by delivering exceptional, innovative solutions using Fujitsu products, solutions, and services.

Submissions are also evaluated on the impact they make and the extent to which they further Fujitsu's vision of creating a human-centric intelligent society.

Dave Hazard, Vice-President, Channel and Sales Operations at Fujitsu EMEIA, comments: "We shortlisted three projects for this year's awards; however, we received many excellent entries that illustrate how hard our partners are working to deliver innovative responses to their customers' challenges. We are honoured to work with each and every one of them to help them acquire new skills and to co-create solutions that leverage both emerging and traditional technologies. This year's shortlisted organisations are a great illustration of the diverse competencies of our strong channel and the creative solutions we are building together, to address today's social and business needs, truly embodying our vision of creating a human-centric intelligent society."

D.FI, which focuses on supporting customers with digital transformation projects, was recognised as 2018 SELECT Innovation Awards winner by the selection committee^1 for creating an innovative, intelligent system to handle the thousands of support tickets it receives every month.

The system, co-created with the Fujitsu AI Center of Excellence team in Paris-Saclay and refined using Fujitsu's AI test environment, automates the handling of tickets. It uses natural language processing to understand the context of tickets, to effectively triage them. As a result, tickets are qualified with an accuracy level of 80%, errors are reduced and D.FI is also able to anticipate and prevent incidents or outages. The intelligent support solution is now in the process of being replicated and rolled out for D.FI customers, either as an on-premises solution or as a service.

2018 Fujitsu SELECT Awards international finalists

The two runners up in the 2018 awards were South African SELECT Partner Sizwe Africa IT Group and Green IT - Das Systemhaus, a service provider from Germany.

South African SELECT Partner Sizwe Africa IT Group was recognised for its project to bring education to rural communities in Africa with a fleet of mobile digital classrooms. Each eco-friendly classroom is equipped with nine rows of desks to accommodate up to 27 learners and one educator. Students view digital content via Fujitsu displays connected to Fujitsu FUTRO thin clients, while the educator shares information via an intelligent, interactive whiteboard touch-screen. Content is stored locally and delivered via a Fujitsu PRIMERGY RX2530 M4 server located in a secure cabinet inside the container. The equipment is highly robust and designed to withstand a wide temperature range, ensuring reliable operation even in harsh environments.

Also shortlisted was environmentally focused German service provider Green IT - Das Systemhaus (Green IT), for introducing one of the world's first near-zero emissions data centres, located inside a wind turbine in Germany. Part of the WindCORES initiative from German electricity provider WestfalenWIND IT, the new hosting solution enables Fujitsu SELECT Partner Green IT to offer highly sustainable and cost-effective cloud services to its customers. Energy-efficient Fujitsu PRIMERGY server and ETERNUS storage technology helps reduce power and cooling needs, further reducing energy consumption.

The winning project received a prize of USD 10 000 to be used for a joint channel marketing campaign, while all finalists are awarded incentive trips to Munich and have their projects featured in reference videos. The awards ceremony, held during Fujitsu Forum Munich, also recognised the outstanding achievements of partners that have excelled over the course of the last year with a host of additional awards, including Best Corporate Reseller, Best Fujitsu Ambassador and EMEIA Newcomer of the Year.

^1All submitted award entries were evaluated by a team of senior Fujitsu executives.
