SITA awards enterprise systems tender to New Dawn Technologies

Johannesburg, 23 Nov 2004

State Information Technology Agency's (SITA) awarding of over R12- million Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tender to New Dawn Technologies symbolises the state-owned agency's commitment to Black Economic Empowerment (BEE).

The solution is to provide SITA with an integrated internal system that will streamline the business processes within the company. The system will provide support for Human Resources, Finance, Payroll, Procurement, Inventory, Project Management and Time Management.

SITA Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mavuso Msimang said: "The awarding of this tender to New Dawn Technologies (NDT) cements our commitment to BEE, but more than anything, will do away with the current disparate legacy systems and replacing them with new integrated and harmonised internal system."

ERP solution is at the heart of SITA Chief Information Officer's plans to overhaul internal processes at SITA and turn them into a model that can be used successfully in other government departments.

"We are ecstatic to have been awarded this tender as it promises to build a long-lasting business relationship between ourselves and SITA, and will, undoubtedly, open other opportunities of a similar nature in the public services space." says New Dawn Technologies Chief Executive Officer, Mr Elijah Mahlangu.

"This award is significant, not only to us, but to the overall IT landscape within the Public Sector - a new tone has been set. A black owned and managed company now occupies a space previously dominated by the "big four" multinational consulting houses. NDT appreciates SITA's confidence in us that we are capable of partnering with them in this strategic venture" added Mr Mahlangu.

ERP will in addition increase the speed of delivery of the products and services of SITA while removing unnecessary duplication in as far as systems, processes and data are concerned.
