Superheroes, cyber-pets at DigitalLife Expo

Johannesburg, 13 Mar 2009

Proving that technology really is for everyone, local “superhero” Vernon Koekemoer, aka Rambo Guy, will be at the DigitalLife Expo, taking place at Sandton Convention Centre from Friday 27 March to Sunday 29 March.

Literally created and launched in cyber-space, Vernon is himself a strapping example of technology in action. The apparent product of a viral campaign called “Let's make Vernon famous”, people everywhere took to “the Koek” like “sous to pap”.

Vernon became the centre of a photoshopping phenomenon, and the muscular marvel soon appeared in hundreds of movie spin-off posters such as “Star Wors”, “Judge Vernon” and “The Incredible Moer”.

You can meet Vernon in person at the DigitalLife Expo, along with WOWEE the Roboquad, a four-legged spider-like robot, who has an almost eerie sense of awareness and mobility. It has five scanning sequences and can pursue a moving object in any direction at varying speeds. WOWEE also comes with a controllable personality setting: you can turn up its aggressive side or opt for a mellow version.

Vernon will be at the show from 11am to 1pm on Saturday and from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday.

Vernon will also do the draw for the “Win a Digital Lifestyle” competition, on Sunday at 3pm. Visitors to the DigitalLife Expo stand the chance of winning digital products and technologies on display in the DigitalLife Expo's walk-through Digital Home to the value of R250 000, including security systems, a media centre, a home theatre system, digital cameras, mobile phones and more.

Catch Vernon and WOWEE at the DigitalLife Expo, Sandton Convention Centre, Friday 27 March to Sunday 29 March. http://www.digitallife.co.za
