The Eclipse Foundation is releasing Swordfish, a next-generation enterprise service bus (ESB), that provides the flexibility and extensibility required by enterprises to successfully deploy a service-oriented architecture (SOA) strategy, reports eWeek.
Swordfish is based on the Open Services Gateway initiative (OSGi) standard and builds upon successful open source projects, including Eclipse Equinox and Apache ServiceMix.
OSGi will play a major role at this year's EclipseCon, according to officials from the Eclipse Foundation and other vendors announcing new technology at the conference, which takes place in Santa Clara, California from 23 to 26 March.
Mega presents Dodaf Web conference
Mega, the enterprise architecture solutions provider, will host a special Web conference on 2 April on the Department of Defence Architecture Framework (Dodaf) and the new Mega Suite for Dodaf, according to The Earth Times.
This new solution, which offers an integrated architecture approach and capabilities-based planning, is based on the industry-leading Mega Modelling Suite.
EADS, the second largest aerospace and defence company in the world, is using the Mega Suite for Dodaf to support its activities on the Sesar Project, a programme for the modernisation of European air traffic control.
Red Hat debuts development environment
Red Hat, a provider of open source solutions, says the JBoss Developer Studio 2.0 Portfolio Edition is now available, states FoxBusiness.
The complete development environment not only enhances the Eclipse-based toolset, but also adds JBoss enterprise application, portal, SOA and data services platforms.
"We launched JBoss Developer Studio Portfolio Edition to provide developers not only with outstanding development tools, but also with an easily accessible way to begin enterprise development projects on the exact same code that is in our supported JBoss Enterprise Middleware Platforms," said Craig Muzilla, vice-president of Red Hat's middleware business.
