EMA clarifies GRC

Enterprise Management Associates (EMA), has released a new advisory note, 'IT GRC - Real or Not?', that helps clarify recent buzz, mounting frustration and rampant confusion that threatens to undermine the growing need to manage IT risk at a strategic level, says Earth Times.

Based on findings from his recent research into real-world IT governance, risk management and compliance (GRC), EMA research director Scott Crawford describes how a new wave of contrarian naysayers are now challenging GRC itself, and IT GRC in particular.

"As compliance mandates continue to proliferate with no end in sight and IT risks and threats continue to flourish, the terms GRC and IT GRC have prospered. The result is that these terms have now reached their maximum buzz level," says Crawford."

NetApp, joins Oracle initiative

To help customers further address their encryption needs, NetApp has joined the Oracle Enterprise Security and GRC Initiative, says Ferret.

By working closely with Oracle, NetApp will be better positioned to offer Oracle customers its NetApp Lifetime Key Management technology, helping them meet regulatory compliance requirements and protect intellectual property.

"NetApp and Oracle share a long-standing relationship and, as a result, numerous joint customers," said Vipin Samar, VP of database security, Oracle.

Symantec updates compliance

Symantec announced a significant update to its compliance process automation solution, Control Compliance Suite 9.0, in support of IT GRC initiatives within global organisations, says Compliance Home.

Symantec Control Compliance Suite provides customers with the ability to automate key IT compliance processes in order to reduce the risk to their information assets and reduce the costs of managing compliance.

Increasingly, IT management is being called on to align with business objectives amidst shrinking budgets.
