Bytes Document Solutions to launch two new small office multifunction printers

Bytes Document Solutions, authorised Xerox distributor to 24 sub-Saharan countries, will introduce the Xerox WorkCentre 3210N and 3220DN A4 multifunction printers with copy, scan and fax capabilities, to the local market by the end of October.

The new, compact devices fit snugly into virtual offices or small, shared work spaces, are aimed at individuals or small work teams of up to five users and replace two older Xerox models, the Phasers 3200MFP/B and 3200MFP/N.

“The new WorkCentre multifunction printers are for professionals who need an affordable, space-saving desktop, black-and-white multifunction machine with fast output and rich features,” says Ernest Leong, product manager, office systems group at Bytes Document Solutions.

The 3210N now offers networking over the older machine, can print from a USB flash drive, offers network scan-to-PC and scan-to-USB, LAN faxing, increases the paper loading tray capacity to 250 sheets with the option to install a second, increases the output tray from 100 to 150 sheets, doubles onboard RAM from 64MB to 128MB, features an improved processor from 300MHz to 360MHz, and, very importantly, the print cartridge yields 4 000 prints instead of 3 000.

The 3220DN improves output from 24 to 28 pages per minute, prints from USB flash drive, can scan to USB memory and increases the duty cycle to 50 000 pages per month. It offers duplex printing, increases the output paper try capacity from 100 to 150 sheets, includes 250 sheet internal paper tray with the option of adding a second tray and increases RAM to 128MB up from 64MB. It features the same improved processor as the 3210N, and also yields the same output improvement from the cartridge.

Both machines come with CentreWare Internet Services device management software, Scan to PC Desktop, Xerox's Network Scan Utility software, and offers support for CentreWare Web. The Network Scan utility pushes scanned images from the device to networked PCs, offers easily configurable scan preferences through the front panel and is compatible with Windows PCs. The device also supports IPv6, IP filtering, Secure IPP, Scan-to-email with user authentication, and secure fax reception, which are all features that improve document security.

The fax board is approved by ICASA, which regulates the South African communications sector.

The 3210N has a suggested retail price of R4 032, excluding VAT, and the 3220DN R4 983, excluding VAT.
