Zoopy has been added to a global video distribution list after signing a deal with TubeMogul.
Local company Zoopy claims to be the first media-sharing site on the continent to sign a distribution deal with a US-based company.
Under the deal, Zoopy will be added as a syndication partner on TubeMogul, alongside Internet heavyweights such as YouTube, Microsoft and MySpace. TubeMogul is a one-stop site where users upload videos, and it deploys the videos to as many video sharing sites as the user chooses.
Zoopy CEO Jason Elk says the deal is “very cool for us and our users”. He adds that the deal forms part of Zoopy's global expansion plan. “Zoopy is sitting next to some of the biggest sites in the world.”
The site will now receive exposure to international video sites, and up-loaders will start to pay attention to it, says Elk. He explains that the company receives 70% of its content from SA, but this should start to change.
One stop
The Silicon Valley company, TubeMogul, is a free service that provides a single point for deploying uploads to a multitude of video sharing sites, and analytics on who, what and how videos are being viewed. Since launching three years ago, over a million videos have been uploaded onto the site.
TubeMogul tracks rich, standardised analytics beyond “views”, including per-second audience drop-off and audience geography. The partnership forms part of the US company's plans to grow globally.

Zoopy, founded two years ago, is an online and mobile social media community. Users visit Zoopy to upload, share and discover videos, photos and audio.
