Businesses embrace SOA

A survey has revealed businesses will embrace service-oriented architecture (SOA) to cut costs, states TechWorld.

The results indicate that IT directors understand how SOA enables businesses to identify and reuse critical services. From the 100 UK-based IT directors surveyed, 83% say they will use SOA to cut costs, and 40% plan to implement SOA governance within the next year.

"Effective enterprise architecture linked to SOA governance ensures the best possible return on new software investments, rather than simply throwing money away on like-for-like replacement software," says Tim Holyoake, lead technologist at Software AG.

Savvis expands cloud infrastructure solutions

Savvis says its Symphony Open public cloud infrastructure service is available to European clients through its UK data centre in Slough, says My Host News.

“While Savvis has seen growth in managed hosting services in Europe for many years, as enterprises have sought the benefits of managed services, we are now experiencing increasing demand for both private and public cloud infrastructure services,” says Brian Klingbeil, MD of EMEA for Savvis.

Savvis says the expansion allows for cloud infrastructure and managed hosting offerings in Europe with managed and virtualised hosting, private cloud and network services for enterprises and the public sector.
