NetSuite joins Amazon's storage cloud

NetSuite has integrated its on-demand enterprise resource planning software with Amazon's Simple Storage Service, reports BusinessWeek.

SuiteStorage allows customers to interact with data stored on Amazon's storage cloud; which aims to reduce the cost for storing files.

Overall, the announcement underscores two points: that software-as-a-service is extensible and customisable, and that new selling models are emerging for applications like NetSuite.

SGI drives next-gen storage

High-performance computing company SGI has released an integrated storage array for next-generation data centres, states eWeek.

SGI's InfiniteStorage Server 3500 is designed for enterprise environments in which data needs to be tightly coupled, such as video surveillance, data warehousing and object storage.

According to the company, the server can pack up to 72TB into a single system and features a high-availability power supply and hot-pluggable cooling system.

Buffalo rolls out USB SSDs

Buffalo has unveiled flash drives with high solid state drive (SSD) storage capacity, says Softpedia.

Buffalo's flash-drive family is dubbed the SHD-LVS-BK series and is composed of drives capable of packing up to 64GB of storage space as well as TurboCopy tools that boost data transfer rates.

The USB SSDs are designed with a switch that can prevent new files from being written onto the drive, or older files from being deleted.
