Gizmodo returns iPhone 4G prototype

Earlier this week Gizmodo said it is making arrangements to return an errant device believed to be a prototype of the next iPhone, says CNET News.

This follows a request from Apple's legal department. The tech blog site revealed early Monday that it was in possession of a device it concluded to be a prototype of the unreleased and as-yet-unannounced next-generation iPhone 4G.

The device was reportedly found last month on the floor of a San Francisco Bay Area bar after reportedly being left by customer who was identified as an Apple employee.

Student develops 'skin-screen'

Chris Harrison, a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University and a former intern at Microsoft Research, has developed a working prototype of a system called Skinput, writes CNN.

The system essentially turns a person's hand and forearm into a keyboard and screen. Using Skinput, a person could tap their thumb and middle finger together to answer a call; touch their forearm to go to the next track on a music player; or flick the centre of their palm to select a menu item.

These sign-language-like movements, which are customisable, would control a gadget in a person's pocket through a Bluetooth connection.

LG intros FMC phone

LG has released the KH3900 JoyPop, which is the company's fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) phone, states Fone Arena.

Fixed-mobile convergence makes use of the WiFi connection and allows users to make calls to and from the device using the connection.

The device thus allows users to make free calls when at home by acting like a landline connection but at the same time, it can be used as a proper mobile phone on the move.
