RFID stops wine counterfeiting

Alien Technology has disclosed an RFID anti-counterfeiting implementation, says Using RFID.

The wine seller, Great Wall of Wines in China, is using Alien Technology's RFID tags, readers and services to help tackle counterfeiting problems.

The deployment is eventually expected to be expanded into all retail stores in China carrying the company's wines.

Smart cards for the disabled imminent

Multi-purpose smart cards for disabled people in the country are set to become a reality, thanks to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), reports Thaindian News.

The cards will contain all basic information about the holders and serve the purpose of an identity card too.

The NHRC officials said they were working out the details to get smart cards for the disabled, who according to the 2001 census constitute around 20 million of the country's total population.

Barcode Producer 4.7 available

Intelli Innovations' Barcode Producer 4.7 is now available. The update for the bar code design application improved support for ISMN music bar codes, says Mac Observer.

Barcode Producer now supports customising human-readable equivalents for ISBN bar codes, produces ISMN bar codes as EPS, TIFF and PDF, imports files created with Excel and other text editor applications, and supports outputting high resolution EPS bounding boxes.
