Zambia boosts e-learning

The recent e-learning Africa conference in Zambia provided an opportunity to expose young people to the latest information and communication technologies (ICTs) and explored investment opportunities for increased usage of ICTs in the country, reports The Post Zambia.

The fifth international conference, held last week in Lusaka, helped the country to move a step further in its quest to embracing e-learning in educational institutions.

In addition, Crescent Future Kids, a local ICT company, has entered into a partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Co-operatives to set-up computer laboratories in all its colleges countrywide.

Internet transforms home tutoring

Parents spend much time and energy, and even money, to arrange transport for their children to commute between their house and the place of tuition, writes Arab News.

E-learning is the latest concept to do away with the hassle of commuting, both for tutors and students. Through the Internet, a virtual classroom is created where a lesson is given on a one-to-one basis. The teacher and student could be in the same city or thousands of miles away from each other.

Another notable feature is that with e-learning, the student doesn't have to purchase any software or need any special computer skills beyond his or her ability to use a computer to get online.

Digital community gets e-marketing tools

Caslon & Company, a PODi affiliate, says the S3 (Strategic Solution Sales) Council Web site has been redesigned and expanded with new training tools for businesses selling digital applications, according to Quick Printing.

All of the new content is being made available to PODi, the digital printing initiative, and will be included in PODi membership.

The updated S3 collection features a series of new online S3 Training modules, hosted by digital solutions expert, Kate Dunn, president of Digital Innovations Group. The modules take users through the solution sales process, complete with tips, techniques, and exercises.
