Brazil IT - Collaborating Across the Atlantic in ICT, a seminar exploring the opportunities for ICT collaboration between Brazil and South Africa, is on this Friday afternoon at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

The seminar is hosted by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion agency, Apex-Brazil, and SOFTEX, the Association for the Promotion of Excellence in Brazilian Software. Apex-Brazil promotes the export of Brazilian products and services to foreign countries and attracts investment into the country, while SOFTEX promotes Brazilian software export.

Apex-Brazil and SOFTEX believe there are similarity between SA and Brazil as developing countries, and the seminar will explore the economic and technological impact that a collaboration of this kind could have.

With SA currently hosting the 2010 Fifa World Cup and Brazil set to host the 2014 World Cup, SA is expected to share its ICT knowledge to assist Brazil in their task. Brazil in turn will share its ICT solutions with SA in areas such as public health and transport, education, job creation and digital inclusion for all citizens.

The seminar includes talks on e-government and public services, retail technology, digital TV, and usage of “serious games” in training and education. It will be held from 14h00 to16h00 on Friday, 18 June, at the Sandton Convention Centre and will include an exhibition, “The Brazilian Sensation”.

Entrance is free of charge, but by reservation only.
