Bill Venter dumps more shares

Venter family patriarch Bill Venter has again disposed of shares in JSE-listed Altron.

Last month, the company's founder and chairman sold 1.4 million Altron participating preference shares on the open market, grossing R54.78 million.

Late on Friday, Altron notified shareholders that Venter Snr had disposed of an additional 1.3 million Altron participating preference shares on the open market for a total sale consideration of R46.8 million.

This sale represented 0.547% of the total issued share capital of Altron's participating preference shares. However, it did not impact upon the Venter family's control of the group. This control is maintained through the voting ordinary share structure.

Venter Snr sold the 1.3 million shares in three tranches, for R36 per share. Last week, the company's participating preference shares traded predominantly at R36 per share, while its ordinary shares traded between highs of R38.80 and lows of R37.01 per share.

Altron had not responded to ITWeb's queries by time of publication.
