Industry focuses on IPv6
The impact and benefits of IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) will top the agenda at the seventh annual iWeek conference and exhibition, to be held from 17 to 19 September, at The Forum, in Bryanston, Johannesburg.
IPv6 is the next-generation protocol that will replace the almost 30-year-old IPv4. As successor to IPv4, IPv6 addresses a number of issues in IPv4, such as the limited number of available addresses, as well as offering improvements to IPv4 in areas such as routing and network configuration.
The Internet Service Providers' Association of SA (ISPA), and UniForum SA (the co.za registrar) will host the iWeek conference, the only convention to be endorsed by the Internet Society of SA.
"iWeek consistently offers leading insights into developments within the industry from top minds in the business. It's an event that brings together all the players to discuss relevant issues and solutions to challenges facing the industry," says Elaine Zinn, chairperson of ISPA's Events Working Group. "One of those issues is the transition to IP version 6.”
Other topics on the iWeek agenda include international trends in the domain name system, opportunities for Internet service providers, protecting intellectual property, interception and navigating the alternative dispute resolution process.
