NTT boosts data centre security

NTT Communications' data centres have been equipped with Crossbeam Systems' X-Series security platform, reports TMCnet.

The company claims the Crossbeam X-Series integrates network processing with application processing on an open architecture, which means users get to choose applications to run on the platform to maximise security.

Crossbeam supported NTT's initiative for the integration and consolidation of its internal ICT infrastructure.

Cloud services bring channel threat

According to a study by AMI-Partners, one-sixth of UK small and medium-size enterprise-focused partners are offering hosted applications and two-thirds offer remote ICT monitoring and management services, states Business Wire.

A major driver has been the lowering of barriers to entry to service provision with the availability of remote management software platforms, hosted infrastructure and the expansion of software-as-a-service applications.

“Cloud services have huge implications for the traditional ICT reseller channel,” says Hugh Gibbs, VP of research for AMI in Europe, Middle East and Africa. “New market entrants including telcos and ISPs, retailers and IT vendors bring economies of scale which small partners do not have, and they will constitute a potent competitive threat.”

ZettaServe snaps up Convergent Resources

ICT managed service provider ZettaServe has acquired print management provider Convergent Resources, says News Maker.

The acquisition completes the ZettaServe service offerings as it claims it will now be able to deliver integrated ICT solutions to every aspect of a client's business.

ZettaServe managing director, Dr Nathan Harman says: “Convergent Resources' cutting-edge solutions for the print and digital environment provide an ideal synergy with ZettaServe's support and management of clients' critical ICT infrastructure.”
