Several Bytes Technology Group (BTG) companies participated in the annual Telecom Namibia ICT Summit, on 7 and 8 October, at the Safari Hotel and Conference Centre, in Windhoek.
Bytes Document Solutions, authorised Xerox distributor to 27 sub-Saharan countries, Bytes Technology Group Namibia, and Bytes Communications Systems were among the exhibitors.
“We showcased our newly launched WC 7120 colour multifunction printer (MFP) at the summit,” says Olivier Merven, sales and marketing manager of Africa Operations at Bytes Document Solutions. “The 20 ppm device offers advanced colour scanning, document workflow and security features aimed at small and medium-sized businesses, which makes it ideal for the market in Namibia.”
Bytes Technology Group Namibia demonstrated its Parrot Interactive Whiteboard solution, which has already seen widespread adoption in boardrooms across Namibia.
The interactive whiteboard differentiates itself from the competition in a number of ways, not least its diminutive size – it easily fits into a laptop bag alongside a laptop with its dimensions of half an A4 page by 1cm – and its flexibility: it can project on any surface and requires no fixtures.
“Its fantastic portability and versatility obviously highly recommend the product,” says JC Kruger, MD of Bytes Technology Group Namibia, “but its extremely competitive price – 20% to 25% that of than the competition – is the clincher.”
Aubrey Billinge, channel manager at Bytes Communications Systems, which is an Alcatel-Lucent premium partner offering the full product range, service, and support, and a specialist enterprise ICT solutions provider that offers a complete range of business communications solutions, was a keynote speaker at the event.
His keynote address covered, among others, Bytes Communications Systems' and Alcatel-Lucent's messages of mobile smart-loading or taking content beyond the network, and the high leverage network, which is enabling dynamic service creation and delivery at the lowest cost per bit.
“Enterprises in the sub-Saharan market are looking to introduce mobile solutions for their workers, ensure collaboration and access to data, and building solid and reliable IP transformation solutions,” says Billinge. “Service providers, by contrast, are really looking to redefine the wireless experience, bring multi-screen experiences to deliver greater customer value and create new revenue opportunities, and obtain higher returns on their investments by combining their network capabilities with Web applications to enrich the user experience. Alcatel-Lucent has the ideal range of products and the brand strength to give them that.”
The Telecom Namibia ICT Summit has proved so popular that 2010 is the first time that it has been run over two days. Some of the major themes this year were contributing to sustainable economic growth and knowledge-based societies and boosting confidence and motivation for future-oriented business development, taking into account local adversities and the difficult economic climate.
