Vodacom has introduced a service that allows prepaid customers to make calls and use data services when they have run out of airtime.

The new service, Airtime Advance, offers R10 worth of advance airtime, which is then deducted from the customer's next recharge.

“We like to think of Airtime Advance as a solution that could be a life line for our customers when they have no airtime and are in desperate need of it,” says chief officer of corporate affairs Portia Maurice.

In a recent survey conducted by the service provider, findings indicated that, for prepaid customers, keeping in touch with family and friends is critical, and it is also imperative to stay connected even when they run low or out of airtime.

“These findings prove that this new offer is exactly what our customers need,” says Maurice.

To qualify for the service, customers must have been active on the Vodacom network for at least a year, and must have recharged with a minimum of R29 per month in the last six months. Customers must also have completed the RICA process.

Customers must dial *111*082# in order to see whether they qualify. A service fee of R1 is charged for every R10 advance granted.
