Powerful WiFi range extender

Johannesburg, 03 Jun 2011

A new, more powerful WiFi range extender has been added to the line-up of Netgear router and DSL gateway offerings. The Netgear WN3000RP, distributed by Duxbury Networking and marketed through dealers and Internet service providers (ISPs), is designed to effectively double the operating distance of an average wireless network without the need for additional power cables.

Targeting the retail accessory and add-on market, the range extender boosts the footprint of an existing wireless router by overcoming obstacles, eliminating 'dead zones' and enhancing overall network signal quality, explains Andy Robb, chief technology officer at Duxbury Networking.

“The Netgear WN3000RP is designed to be plugged into an electrical outlet and is compatible with wireless b/g/n-type routers, gateways and Internet service provider devices,” he says.

“It is ideal for extending Internet access for wireless devices such as iPads, iPods, laptops, smartphones, game consoles and the new generation of Internet TV sets.”

A key feature of the Netgear WN3000RP includes universal compatibility with legacy wireless technology and security systems.
