Facebook Timeline rolls out in NZ

Facebook has started making its Timeline feature available to the approximately two million Facebook users living in New Zealand, Hindustan Times reveals.

Facebook's Timeline acts like a digital diary, presenting a comprehensive and ongoing snapshot of life on the social networking site.

PCMag says Timeline was released to developers in September, and "since then, over a million people have signed up for the developer beta to access Timeline”.

"We'll begin by making it available to people in New Zealand and then roll it out more broadly in the near future," said Sam Lessin, a product manager at Facebook.

Facebook is promoting Timeline as a way to give users more creative control over how they display content, instead of being bound by the traditional wall-posting constraints, Social Barrel notes.

Facebook is giving Kiwis the first look at Timeline as a way for it to assess its performance and get some idea of whether users like it or not.
