Verizon, Alcatel-Lucent showcase m-commerce apps

Verizon Wireless and Alcatel-Lucent are showcasing mobile commerce applications at this year's International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Telecom Paper reveals.

Using interconnected demos, the connected retail shopping service combines 3D telepresence, video conferencing, cloud computing and ultra-high bandwidth connectivity over 4G LTE.

The Sacramento Bee says TelePresence Tech has bridged the gap between the in-store experience and online ordering.

The TelePresence Tech 4G Kiosks captivate customers with a three-dimensional display that can feature an endless aisle of products to extend beyond the inventory within the store.

The 4G kiosks are enabled with near field communications technology to help deliver a personalised retail experience in store locations and at home, Market Watch notes.

"The Verizon 4G LTE network expands the reach of our 3D TelePresence systems to transmit a customer service representative to appear as a life-size person in a three-dimensional setting to provide a natural live interaction with a customer," says Duffie White, CEO of TelePresence Tech.
