RSA unveils GRC services

EMC security company RSA has unveiled governance, risk and compliance advisory services to help businesses of any size address compliance issues, IT World Canada reports.

Mat Allen, senior director of the security and risk management consulting practice at RSA's parent, EMC, called the endeavour not a completely unique or new service, but one that consolidates and adds on to existing ones.

“Basically, we've defined a series of services that'll hang off of a broader framework called GRC - or governance, risks and compliance - and under that are some tactical offers as well as a broader strategy,” Allen says.

According to EMC, virtualisation, cloud computing, mobile and the emergence of big data applications have dramatically altered how organisations create, deliver and manage information, TechWeek Europe states.

EMC says the openness of information within these new environments can significantly increase an organisation's risk. These new security and risk management advisory services are also intended to boost customer confidence about the security of its data.

The services offer organisations an "ideal remedy to lock down access control and identify IT infrastructure security gaps before they become problematic, or worse, irrevocably damaging", says Chris Christiansen, an analyst with IDC, in a CIO Insight report.

"Security culpability is no longer the responsibility of just the chief information security officer,” Christiansen adds.
