Bridging the digital divide!

Johannesburg, 09 Mar 2012

ICDL Africa is extremely excited to announce the kind donation of 65 student registrations to the Cape Town Society of the Blind.

ICDL - the International Computer Driving Licence, is an internationally recognised computer qualification that provides valuable digital literacy training, which is proven to save time and increase computer efficiency. Available in 149 countries, in 41 languages in over 24 000 test centres, ICDL has opened many doors and increased both career prospects and earning potential for more than 11.5 million candidates.

This kind donation made possible by Elkanah House, a private school situated in Cape Town, will provide much-needed ICDL skills training and opportunity to 65 members of the society.

Founded in 1929, the Cape Town Society for the Blind's main objective is to offer training and employment opportunities to the blind in order to promote self-sufficiency, and this donation will go a long way in achieving this.

Elkanah House, a privately owned member of the Independent Schools' Association of South Africa, is committed to development on all levels and their dedication remains evident in acts of kindness such as these.

Elkanah's ethos is: “While we acknowledge the importance of examinations in enabling our students to take the next step in their education, we also understand that a sound education is about so much more than results. Our objective is to enable our young people to become skilled and interested pupils who can take their place anywhere in the world with confidence and who understand that living significantly is about making a difference in the lives of others.”
