Puleng launches security division

Johannesburg, 16 Apr 2012

Puleng Technologies, a South African technology integrator and service infrastructure automation company, has announced it is launching a dedicated security group.

Head of Security Muhammed Mayet says Puleng has been offering customers identity and access management solutions, services and support for the past seven years. “Due to the momentum gained over this time, as well as the growing importance of governance and compliance in business today, the decision was taken to create a division focused on the visibility, control and management of user identities across an organisation's information, infrastructure and application landscape.”

Says Mayet: “Puleng has built up a respected portfolio of access-, governance- and compliance-related solutions and skilled personnel over the years. Consolidating these products and skills into one division allows us to provide customers with a dedicated security resource sporting years of experience and a reputation for project delivery.

“There tends to be a fear in the marketplace, driven mostly by customers, that projects such as identity and access are long winded, high risk and not really applicable to project delivery. However, the methodology that Puleng brings to the table, coupled with the solution stack and its ability to both secure data and provide registered access to it, means we are able to alleviate these concerns,” continues Mayet.

“From Puleng's perspective, we have been executing projects for a number of years, and have a very mature methodology for the design and implementation. Our focus is always to execute a plan that will achieve short-term value milestones for the client. In this way, the customer realises value and thus a return on investment in a short space of time.”

Puleng Identity will not be isolated from the rest of the company, but will work with its existing clients and partners in delivering integrated and effective solutions.

Mayet says the division's portfolio of products and skills will include the following:

* Data governance,
* Roles-based access governance,
* Identity and access management,
* Privileged account management, and
* Cloud and Internet single sign-on.

“As business leaders feel more insecure about who has access to their information, infrastructure and applications, we have found a growing need in the enterprise for providing control and solutions,” adds Mayet. “Puleng Security will target its customers' security pain points, allowing users to focus on their core business, while providing a quality end-user experience and managing the aspects of security control, while still maintaining its compliance and governance posture.

“Puleng Identity will provide customers' thinking about moving applications and services to the cloud with a strong technical roadmap and compelling value proposition, while ensuring that their security controls remain standards-based, complete with Internet single sign-on, self-enrolment, roles-based access and centralised user provisioning. Our partnerships with leading vendors across the globe will ensure that clients are able to adopt cloud services with confidence, while converging channels and extending the user experience.”

With 35 skilled people already delivering value and the ability to rapidly build out local capacity based on strong mentorship and an already mature customer base, Puleng Identity will hit the ground running from April 2012. With a history of service excellence, Puleng Identity is geared to respond to the growing interest in the market for reliable and effective access, governance and compliance solutions that make it simpler for the end-user to remain productive without compromising security.
