Teradata unveils big data analytics system

During the SAS Global Forum, in Orlando, Florida, data warehousing specialist Teradata unveiled a new big data analytics system developed in conjunction with business software maker SAS, Enterprise Apps Today reveals.

Called the Teradata 700 appliance, the RAM-heavy hardware runs pre-installed SAS High-Performance Analytics software to accelerate data modelling for businesses.

According to Tho Nguyen, director of Integrated Solutions for the Teradata-SAS Partnership Programme for Teradata, enterprises should notice a dramatic improvement in the time it takes to arrive at business intelligence-backed decisions.

As the data storage industry responds to the increasing pace of data creation, rapid access to analytics can provide a competitive advantage at enterprise scales, SoftwareReview.com reports.

Teradata's solution is designed for organisations that want to make quicker assessments and decisions with their data or ones that regularly execute complex queries that are time-prohibitive with current-generation analytics systems.

This kind of data analysis is essential in industries like telecommunications services, finance and distributed retail operations.

Computer Business Review quotes SAS senior VP and CTO Keith Collins as saying: “SAS High-Performance Analytics for Teradata combines superior software for data exploration, model development and model deployment with the powerful new Teradata 700 appliance to help users address business and IT challenges in an integrated system.”
