Sony plans cloud gaming move

Sony will strike a deal with OnLive or Gaikai at E3 next month for PlayStation cloud gaming, MCV says.

The platform-holder will announce a new game streaming service for 'PlayStation hardware' at the annual trade show, in Los Angeles.

Game Zone notes that it's unknown if this service will be brought to the PS3 or PS Vita, both, or possibly the next PlayStation console.

Despite Sony repeatedly saying it won't announce the PS4 at E3, OnLive has expressed interest in bringing its technology on next-generation consoles.

Both OnLive and Gaikai are heading to smart HDTVs, the latter of which doesn't offer a subscription service, but merely streams games that consumers purchase from publishers or digital distributors, Tom's Guide states.

This could also be the case for Sony's agreement, but for the moment, Gaikai is merely streaming demos to numerous sites including Facebook, making OnLive seem like a more ideal candidate.
