iConnect channel partners gear up to hit the road selling

iConnect, a licensed new age telecommunications company providing voice and integrated data and converged solutions and services to the corporate and SME markets, has successfully rolled out its own well-established business partner training programme to a significantly expanded channel in South Africa.

iConnect sales and marketing director Charles Proudfoot says the programme is proving to be extremely popular among business partners brought into the company's reseller community after the merger between iConnect and the Cape Town-based VOIP specialist, Clear Voice.

“The programme has been designed to develop and support the professionalism and success of business partners who represent iConnect's comprehensive range of converged voice and data solutions throughout the country,” he says.

Proudfoot, who has extensive experience in channel management, having pioneered or founded several of today's most successful IT distribution organisations in the country, instituted the two-day programme at iConnect two years ago.

“The merger immediately created a greatly expanded community of resellers with access to a greatly expanded range of solutions under the iConnect brand. It was therefore extremely important that we roll-out a programme to familiarise all channel partners not only with all the product offerings available to them, but also how they can take advantage of business opportunities in one of the fastest growing and most dynamic sectors of the ICT sector,” says Proudfoot.

The iConnect training programme is focused primarily on successful solution selling, including the sales approach, product knowledge, pricing, proposal design and process. Training content also includes the history of telecoms in South Africa and the competitive landscape.

“We have introduced an online test for delegates that attend the programme as this helps to reinforce retention and provide confirmation that content that is being delivered provides value to our partners,” says Proudfoot.

“Successful candidates are recognised for their commitment and are well equipped to hit the road selling,” he says.
