The third annual MicroStrategy World kicked off in Amsterdam on Monday. The BI giant says the event aims to give delegates the opportunity to meet industry experts, hear visionary keynotes, and improve their bottom lines.

With over 1 000 delegates from 42 countries, the conference features more than 75 sessions, and seven tracks covering four major topics: big data, mobile, cloud and social.

According to the company, these four mega trends are radically changing the way business is conducted.

Sanju Bansal, EVP and COO, MicroStrategy, says companies that embrace these trends efficiently reap great benefits.

He says MicroStrategy has the technology and tools to help companies harness the big data explosion so that they can make intelligent business decisions to drive growth.

“The sessions in this category will focus on MicroStrategy Business Intelligence capabilities such as improved self-service dashboard creation and visual insight; advanced, predictive and data mining analytics; big data analysis from Hadoop, multidimensional and heterogeneous data sources; and high performance and administration across the entire platform.”

According to Bansal, the mobile tracks will focus on educating the business and developer community about the value of the MicroStrategy Mobile platform. Delegates will learn how to use the platform to design, develop, maintain and customise visually engaging apps for multiple devices, while leveraging the features of the company's BI platform.

“Along with technical sessions on design, deployment and mobile security, MicroStrategy customers and partners who have successfully deployed mobile apps will share lessons learned and success strategies.”

Category three, says Bansal, covers cloud and will help the business and developer community to understand the new MicroStrategy Cloud offering and how it fits into the BI environment.

Attendees will learn about the power, flexibility and security of cloud computing, and how they can take advantage of it to drive their business decisions. Technical experts will be complemented by customer and partner sessions, which will highlight the easy set-up and deployment of MicroStrategy Cloud.

Finally, the fourth category will teach attendees about MicroStrategy's Social Intelligence solutions that help enterprises turn social data into real business opportunities that drive engagement, loyalty, and ultimately, revenue.
