In what Cell C calls its “pricing revamp” the operator has homogenised data rates, instituting a standard data tariff of 15c per MB for in and out of bundle usage across its data portfolio.

The new flat rate applies to all prepaid and contract data bundles and packages, as of today. Cell C CEO Alan Knott-Craig says the operator is committed to bringing deals to the table that are affordable, transparent and simple. “What you see is what you get. No more nasty surprises when you go out of bundle. You will pay one rate for in bundle and out of bundle usage.”

He says Cell C has reduced the rates of its standard data offerings in a customised way that will suit a range of needs - “from the occasional Internet browser to the hard core tech junkie”.

Cell C's data bundles start at R7.50 for 50MB - currently the lowest entry-level bundle on the market.

Knott-Craig says in addition to the reduced rates introduced today, Cell C will run “competitive” promotions from time to time.
