E-mail is a massive treasure trove of information that can provide deep insights about an organisation's ability to meet its biggest business priorities, says VoloMetrix's Ryan Fuller.

While the majority of organisations today are investing heavily in social analytics tools, little has been done for e-mail, which is still the world's number one social network.

This is according to Ryan Fuller, CEO at VoloMetrix, who notes that an average of 145 billion e-mails are sent each day.

"While social networks are growing, e-mail and meetings are still the places where more than 95% of the work happens at organisations today, so they are vital components for understanding the whole picture," says Fuller.

He states that e-mail and social media are both important components of the overall collaboration landscape in organisations today.

"While social media is getting a lot of attention because it is still in its nascent stages at most organisations, e-mail and meetings are still the place where most work gets done."

He explains that social analytics tools are designed to provide insights into the conversations that are happening on social media networks either inside or outside an organisation. The tools collect data from across these networks and use sophisticated algorithms to analyse the data and turn it into useful information, he says.

"Businesses today use social analytics tools in many different capacities to gather real-time information about key issues impacting their organisation, such as identifying customer problems more quickly, locating subject matter 'experts' on certain topics, or tracking competitors' activities in the marketplace."

However, he points out that while there are many social analytics tools that look at the data on these relatively new social networks, organisations must also look at solutions that provide a comprehensive view of the meetings, conversations and connections happening across the entire organisation, not just social networks.

"E-mail is absolutely critical to the success of nearly every organisation across every industry. From an analytics and visibility perspective, e-mail is a massive treasure trove of information that can provide deep insights about an organisation's ability to meet its biggest business priorities."

VoloMetrix has rolled out its e-mail analytics tool, which Fuller says is offered as a cloud-based (SaaS) service.

"With the offering, there is no software for IT departments to install or maintain. In addition, managers and front-line employees alike can easily use the highly visual reports to increase productivity and effectiveness without the need for IT support."

According to Fuller, VoloMetrix is the first platform to provide organisations today with a view across all collaboration applications, including e-mail, calendaring, IM and social networks.

He says this provides organisations with a complete picture of which conversations are happening; how teams are spending their time; and whether they are focused on the top priorities.

"VoloMetrix applies privacy filters then collects and aggregates anonymous data from across all collaboration applications. This information is then analysed by the VoloMetrix data engine using advanced algorithms. The resulting information can be sliced in a multitude of different ways and can be viewed in highly visual, intuitive reports through the VoloMetrix portal."

Fuller also points out that VoloMetrix is developed for any medium-sized to large organisation - across any industry - that would like to gain deeper visibility into the alignment of its people against the biggest priorities of the company.

VoloMetrix is available to all geographic markets and is offered in English. Many of VoloMetrix's customers are large multinational organisations that operate across the globe.
