A new business management system targeted at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) simplifies payroll, finance, reporting and compliance - and users don't even need to understand accounting.

SMEasy is an easy-to-use, online system that brings together all the vital business management functions in one simple, integrated system, the company says in a statement.

The system manages contacts, customer communication, payroll, finance, financial reporting and tax compliance, as well as personal and business money. Furthermore, data is backed up at all times, ensuring no data loss in the case of business disruption.

The system also generates quotes and invoices in PDF format, and allows SMEs to build their own pricelists.

"SMEasy bridges the gap between the business owner and the accountant. Business owners need to provide accountants with certain information in order for the accountant to produce the business' financial statements. This is a huge challenge for most small businesses, as they usually can't afford a bookkeeper, and they don't understand how to use conventional accounting systems," the company says.

"SMEasy allows you to record your day-to-day business activities in language that is familiar to you. You simply enter information, such as what you bought or sold and how much it was. You don't have to understand things like journals to use the system or whether the debtor is the one who owes you or who you owe.

"Once you have done your simple entries, the system automatically does the necessary accounting debits and credits in the system to produce the information needed by your accountant to do your financial statements," it says.

SMEasy costs R150 a month and allows for an unlimited number of business users. The company is also offering free trials.
