FirstRand has renewed Rand Merchant Bank's IT outsourcing services contract with Dimension Data and has added to the scope.

The three-year deal, which is effective from September, will see Dimension Data provide managed services and support for the bank's IT infrastructure, including its network, storage, server services and end-user devices. It will also provide procurement services for infrastructure and resources used within the IT environment.

The company notes that the contract has been extended to include support and managed services to FirstRand Corporate Centre's IT infrastructure.

Dimension Data did not disclose the value of the deal as it is bound by a non-disclosure agreement.

As part of its contract, Dimension Data will provide service desk, desktop support (VIP support), server support, business recovery services, IT procurement services, disaster recovery services, IT facilities management, network services, business recovery services, IT security services, and end-user devices.

"This will allow FirstRand to work through a single services integration partner spanning its operations across various locations, enable FirstRand to manage IT availability for productivity and risk, and manage IT operations for improved performance," Dimension Data says in a statement.

The company adds that the contract will allow FirstRand to align its ICT services across these divisions. The deal will reduce cost, achieve economies of scale, and standardise service levels for FirstRand's Merchant Place campus environment.

Dimension Data has provided IT outsourcing services to Rand Merchant Bank for the past four years.
