With analysts beginning to calculate the cost to business of hurricane Sandy, at least one South African business can report that it had minimal disruption to its e-mail services, thanks to its timely migration to Mimecast, the leading supplier of cloud-based e-mail continuity, archiving and security.
Despite its data centre in New York being affected by Superstorm Sandy earlier last week, Acceleration eMarketing, a global services business specialising in digital marketing technology, was able to maintain business and keep its e-mail communications running.
Explains Lukas Maree, IT director at Acceleration eMarketing: "Less than a week into our working relationship we are already seeing the benefit of our decision to partner with Mimecast."
"Last year, Acceleration eMarketing experienced an outage, also in New York, that meant its servers were down for an extended period of time. It was at this point that it started investigating other e-mail continuity solutions," says Cathy Stodel, founder of In The Cloud Services (ITCS), a long-standing channel partner and Value Added Reseller of Mimecast's Unified Email Management cloud services.
Added Maree: "Continuity is critical to our intercontinental business.
"Mimecast afforded us the opportunity to go live with our implementation over the weekend - a mere two days before Superstorm Sandy tragically hit New York, and our data centre. This meant that, for our clients outside of New York, there was no disruption of service."
Mimecast Email Continuity is the only cloud-based solution that steps in automatically to deliver e-mail to end-users during planned and unplanned outages of corporate e-mail services. Managed from a single administration console and with no additional on-premise hardware required, Mimecast simplifies the network and reduces administration.
