KEMP Technologies' LoadMaster family of load balancer/application delivery controllers (ADCs) now supports the Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) hypervisor that is becoming increasingly popular in the cloud computing market.
Because KVM is based on the Linux operating system, the virtualisation overhead is minimised, while maintaining a high level of performance for hosting providers. This latest announcement means that KEMP's Virtual LoadMaster supports VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, Open Source Xen and KVM hypervisors with an identical set of high-performance features across all platforms.
With KVM support, even more hosting providers can now implement full-function Layer-7 load balancing and leverage their hypervisor of choice without having to bring in a hardware load balancer or deploy a different hypervisor platform.
