Novell's GroupWise offerings enhanced with new BlackBerry Enterprise Server software

Johannesburg, 21 Nov 2012

Novell South Africa has welcomed the release by RIM of BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0.4 for GroupWise. Novell South Africa's Partner Manager, Jessica Robinson, says new features, including BlackBerry Balance technology support, BlackBerry Mobile Fusion integration, as well as support for Microsoft Office 2010 attachments, add impetus to the Novell GroupWise 2012 collaborative tools that improve the way users work and interact.

"New features include BlackBerry Balance technology support, Blackberry Mobile Fusion integration and support for Microsoft Office 2010 attachments, including password protected attachments. Users will benefit from a new column display, data export and software deployment and configuration capabilities in the BlackBerry administration service console, as well as quality and performance improvements."

The BlackBerry Balance technology separates and secures work and personal information on BlackBerry devices, enabling users to stay connected to important customers and family members. Robinson adds that user privacy is respected and sensitive work information is protected.

"Applications and data sent by a company to the BlackBerry devices it manages are restricted from being accessed through personal applications, keeping work information separate and secure as it cannot be copied and pasted into personal applications or e-mail messages."

Robinson adds that BlackBerry "Mobile Fusion", a Web-based mobile device management solution for BlackBerrry, iOS and Android devices, is able to manage devices, users, groups and policies via a single user interface. Administrators can access the most common management tasks for all of these devices and use the interface to to access management features on BlackBerry Enterprise Server and BlackBerry Server Express across multiple BlackBerry domains.

"The software enables creation and management of groups and user profiles, as well as provision mobile devices from an interface designed to make task completion quick and easy. If required, the full interfaces of individual servers and services are also available.
